How to set up a screen saver on Konica Minolta printers

When a Konica Minolta printer is idle, its panel shows the login screen until the printer goes into low power mode. A Print Director screen saver uses that time to show something else, such as announcements or adverts. It runs until someone touches the panel, which brings back the login screen.

You can create several screen savers and give different printers, or groups of printers, different ones. A screen saver can:

• Show Images: a series of pictures, each shown for a set time, repeating;
• Open External URL: show a web page from a web address;
• Custom Web Page: show a web page made of files you upload to the printer.

Create a screen saver and install it on a printer

1. In Resource Manager, edit the shared device (Print Management > Shared Devices, double-click the printer) and click Controller.
2. On the General tab, under Screen saver, set Set screen saver to Install screen saver.
3. Choose the screen saver in Screen saver. To create a new one, click … beside it, and in the Search for Konica Minolta Screen Saver window click New.
4. In the New screen saver window, enter a Screen saver name and choose the Screen saver type. Then set it up as described below for that type, and click OK.
5. Back in the search window, select the new screen saver and click OK.
6. Initialise the printer (Initialisation tab, Initialise now), then click OK + Refresh All.

To give the same screen saver to a group of printers, select them in Print Management > Konica Minolta Integrated, edit them together, and set Set screen saver and Screen saver there. Then initialise them.

Show Images

The images are shown in the order in which they appear in the list, and the series repeats.

1. Click Add image and choose a JPG, GIF or PNG file. Images are zoomed to fill the panel, which is usually 1024 x 600 or 800 x 480 pixels, so use images of that shape.
2. In the image window that opens, rotate the image if needed and change its Display name.
3. In Show for, enter how many seconds the image is shown before the next one (10 by default).
4. Click OK.
5. Repeat for each image. Use Move Up and Move Down to change the order, and Edit image or Delete image to change or remove one.

Together, the images can be at most 10 MB.

Open External URL

Enter the web address in External URL, including http:// or https://. The printer must be able to reach that address.

Custom Web Page

1. Click Add file for each file of the web page: the page itself and everything it uses, such as images and style sheets. The files must be in the same folder, and their names must not contain spaces.
2. In Startup file, choose the page that opens first.

Together, the files can be at most 10 MB.

Change or remove a screen saver

• To change a screen saver, edit it from the … button, then initialise the printers that use it again.
• To take it off a printer, set Set screen saver to Remove screen saver and initialise the printer.
• If you delete a screen saver, the printers that used it are set to Leave unchanged, so it stays on them until you remove it.
